May The Hope That Anchors The Soul Bring You Joy And Peace This Easter !
Jesus, before He was betrayed, arrested, tried, and crucified, warned his disciples of the persecution and hardships that would come. But Jesus provided them with clear instructions on how to remain unmoved during this time: "By your patience, possess your souls" (Luke 21:19, NKJV).
The state of our souls determines our relationship with God, our relationships with others, our goals and purposes, and our reactions to life's difficulties. Possessing our souls is a gradual process that is achieved through patience, as Jesus indicated. Patience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit's work and is evidence of His indwelling presence (Galatians 5:22).
Where is the soul of man? What happens in the soul? The soul is where man's spirit lives and the eternal part of man. Solomon commented that God has put a sense of eternity in people's hearts (Eccl. 3:11). God breathed into man, and he became a living soul (Gen. 2:7).
Emotions are gateways to the soul. Our soul represents the core of our emotions, as we can see in Psalm 42:11, "Why are you cast down, O my soul and why are you in turmoil within me?" It is the part of us that yearns for a connection with God, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God" (Psalm 42:1-2). Possessing our soul means managing our minds, emotions, willpower, and bodies with patience. Although our society values ease, prosperity, and abundance, God's plan to strengthen, deepen, and refine our souls is accomplished through life's struggles.
Paul reminds us in Romans 5:4-5 that "We also have joy with our troubles because we know that these troubles produce patience. And patience produces character, and character produces hope. And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts."
At some point in life, we will all face challenges, losses, or heartbreak. However, during these tough times, we can hold on to hope through God's promises, which are steadfast and reliable. This hope will anchor our soul (Hebrews 6:19), granting us patience and peace. Let us cling to this hope, which is imparted to us by the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.
Thank you for visiting my blog. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13).
